Privacy policy

Scout is a personal job-hunting assistant run by Suleiman Mohamed, who is responsible for your data. It's free and has no ads. Your data is used only to run Scout for you; it is never sold or shared for marketing. Questions or requests: hello@sule-iman.com.

What Scout stores

  • Your account: your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google.
  • Your CV and profile: the PDF you upload, the entries read from it, and your job preferences (roles, locations, pay, deal-breakers).
  • Your job search: the searches you run, the roles in your inbox and their match scores, your applications, notes, dates and salary details, and the contacts you add (names, roles, emails you enter).
  • What Scout writes for you: application packs, outreach drafts and interview prep sheets, with their versions.
  • Running the service: a log of AI requests (feature, model, tokens and cost, not their content), error reports (the error message, page and account), and short-lived counters for rate limits.

How it's used

To show you matching roles, keep your applications organised, and write drafts and prep sheets from your CV when you ask for them. Error reports and usage logs are used only to fix problems, prevent abuse and keep costs in check.

Scoring roles and writing drafts and prep sheets uses an AI provider (Anthropic): the relevant parts of your CV, profile and the job are sent to it to produce the result. Anthropic doesn't use them to train its models.

Scout never sends email for you and never connects to your inbox. Outreach drafts open in your own email app, and you send them yourself.

Google sign-in

If you sign in with Google, Scout receives only your basic profile: email address, name and profile picture. It uses them to sign you in and show your account, and asks for no other access to your Google account. Scout's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Cookies

Scout uses only the cookies needed to keep you signed in, and stores your light or dark theme choice in your browser. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

How long it's kept

Your data is kept while you have an account. Error reports are deleted 30 days after the error last happens, and rate-limit counters within a day. If you ask for your account to be deleted, everything tied to it is deleted, including your uploaded CV.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to how it's used, by emailing hello@sule-iman.com. Requests are answered within 30 days. If you're in the UK or EU and unhappy with the answer, you can complain to your data protection authority (the ICO in the UK).

Changes

If this policy changes, the date above changes with it. Significant changes will also be announced by email to existing users.
